One of these things is not like the other...

So, I ask you, what is the difference between this:

and this:

The answer that I have come up with is that one is a *POS* and the other is not.  The first picture is a model similar to the one that I have - it is less than a year old.  At first (literally the first time I used it), it worked but hasn't ever since.  There is nothing wrong with it except for that fact that it has zero suction which I figured would be a requirement for a vacuum.  It was not cheap either.

The second picture is a model similar to the one my mom has had for over 10 years (minus the sweet red trim)!!  AND it still works perfectly.  I know this because I had to borrow it and it worked better than mine ever did.  Things aren't made like they used to be I guess - maybe I should look for  a 1998 Oreck.  ;)

HEPA filter, my butt.

Our vacuum kinda sucks too... and it also was not cheap. I've heard the only vacuum worth spending any money on right now is a Dyson.. and not the one with the ball. Everyone that I know that owns one swears by it. If you aren't sold yet... there's a PINK one!!!! :o) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.

I hear you 100% on this. I was so excited about the vacuum we registered for and it is TERRIBLE! I've also heard the Dyson is the creme-de-la-crop of vacuums. Let me know if you cave in; I'll probably be right behind you. HAPPY SATURDAY!

BAH! I have that exact un-vacuum (the top one). It is the worst ever. I was tempted to say it sucks, but lets face it, it doesn't.

hey there-

thanks for the birthday wishes!!!!

about the vacuum - you should DEFINITELY get a dyson! we've had ours for 3 1/2 years & love it. our two dogs shed like crazy & the dyson is the only thing that can truly clean the carpet......and the wood floors! we have wood floors everywhere in the house but the bedrooms & it works wonders there too!

we have the purple one (just my luck, the pink one wasn't out yet when we bought ours). we also have a roomba (irobot vacuum) and i love that as well. it doesn't clean as well as the roomba, but you can program it to run on certain days of the week at a specific time.....very nice!

anyway, hope that helps! oh - and if you are seriously thinking about getting one, i would buy it from bed bath and beyond (you know the 20% off coupons you constantly get in the mail from them.....they'll honor those on the dyson's as well....so it saves you quite a bit!).

:-)

I HATE the top vacuum as well. We have a model very similar and it is virtually useless. My problem is I don't want to spend the money on a new one and yet, my carpet is screaming for a new one. Good luck with the vacuuming... or lack there of!!

i dont know why people make such a big deal about "bagless" vacuums...they are a mess if you ask me. You have to clean the filter after every time you vacuum and all of the stuff it picks up turns into this chalky power that gets everywhere! i have gone through two vaccums last year anf finally got a regular old kind "like the oreck". my life is better because of it:)
