OK. It got me. Those commercials with the amped up (fake) lashes and the cute little "stiletto" shaped bottle. I should have known that Lash Stiletto is not all it is cracked up to be...but why was it so enticing? The commercial mentioned extreme length and "patent black shine." Why then, did it take three coats for me to even notice a difference? Dang...I wanted to like it so bad! It did have a little something to offer in the length department, but offered no volume and the "patent black shine" was MIA.
I am ALWAYS on the search for great mascara. I really like my current choice, the Double Extend Beauty Tubes, but since it is one of those "two-parters" as I like to call them, it takes a little too long to get the effect I want (it is great however for weekends when I have the time to mess with it).
For a while there I really like MAC's Zoom Lash but the hold it had on me quickly disappeared and I moved on. It was a quick relationship to say the least.
I always seem to drift back to the old stand-by (Great Lash) and in fact I have a bottle at all times in case I get frustrated with the mascara flavor of the week. It is loyal. It is my friend.
Am I crazy? I can't commit to a mascara...I need help, an intervention, something! I need ideas, ladies! What are your favorite mascaras? HELP! My lashes will thank you!
XOXO

My fave is Loreal's Voluminous in blackest black. I have tried others.. none seem to make my lashes as happy as Voluminous. I used to like Max Factor's 1000 Calories, but it got all clumpy on the brush quickly. I've tried to "two parters"... that's just too much work for me for not enough result! :o)
i love Chanel, Dior Show, and Cover Girl actually (the orange kind, Drew Barrymore is in the commercial)-- I always keep a tube of it on hand
I am in desperate need. My friend works for Smashbox and I love all their products. But I tried the Bio something mascara and it is awful! It sticks to my eyelashes and face like tar...I need mascara advice as bad as you!
Hi, I'm new to your blog, but I must say, I get the mascara thing. I am totally a mascara junkie. If the lashes aren't right, it's worse than having a bad hair day. Anyhoo, my love/obsession/cannot-live-without mascara... Trish McEvoy curling in jet black. I mean it rocks my socks off. It's somewhat pricey, but 100% worth it. Good luck finding your perfect fit!!! Xoxo-BLC
Trish McAvoy is awesome. Katy uses her stuff! I still love MAC's zoom lash. I also love Lancome's mascara, but i can't shell out 26.00 every 4 weeks just for mascara! Basically im not the one that's going to crack this case!
My sister got my some Dior mascara but it looks kinda trashy on me! I love CoverGirl's Lashblast. It needs a couple coats but doesn't get clumpy! Definitely give it a try!
I WANT A FANCY BLOGGGGG!!!! WHAT DO I HAVE TO PAY??
I always use Loreal's Voluminous and just a few weeks ago switched to Chanel's mascara - um, by lunch time I have to go in the bathroom and wipe off my raccoon circles. So I will be going back to the Voluminous. It's good stuff!
Mascara is so hard for me!!! I try out everything!!!! let me know when you find something that works.
I'm currently using the Double Extend Beauty Tubes and I think it works great. However, I hate taking it off at night. It's so weird pulling it off my lashes - I always feel like I'm pulling out my real ones, haha!
Another great, yet expensive option is "False Lashes" by Prescriptives!
Mine has been driving me nuts lately--Long pretty lashes by Clinique. It's been more like Tammy Faye lashes.
Although it's a little pricey, I've found Dior Show to be fantastic BUT my greatest find and MOST REASONABLE is Avon's Super Shock Mascara; this stuff rocks if you want extra volume/thickness!! I've tried EVERYTHING and it is, w/out a doubt, the best. Best $7.00 you'll ever spend:)
I use Cover Girls lash blast! I love that stuff!!! To get the volume I want I wiggle the brush at the base of my lashes then sweep up to the tip. To add a little length I swipe the tips a couple of times and call it good. I think it takes me like a minute to put on mascara.
I love Great Lash too!
I do the mascara test around too, but ALWAYS end up coming back to my favorite: L'oreal Voluminous Mascara in black brown. It is the best, plus it's less than $10!
Diorshow is my favorite. I also like Tarte's and MakeUp Forever's. Sometimes when I want length and not necessarily volume I use Bourjois'...I love mascara. I was just thinking about that this am!
love this post. I can totally relate. every time I have to buy new mascara I always try a new kind! it really is a hunt to find a great one that you love! right now I am using Cover Girl's Lash Exact. It is pretty good and I like the brush-- it has tiny, short bristles for my tiny, short eyelashes! before that I was using Maybelline's Define-A-Lash. It is similar to CG but maybe a little wetter? I think CG doesn't smear as much during the day... I also tried CG's Lash Blast because of the Drew Barrymore commercial, but it made my eyes sting whenever I washed it off! like, really bad, want to cry stinging. So that is a no for me.
Good luck with your mascara hunt. I have always heard Great Lash is amazing (I used it years ago... can't remember now how I liked it) so maybe that is your best fit :)
Man, that's sooo disappointing, those stiletto commercials are so darn cute!
Good to know though, I was planning on grabbing some next time I needed a refresh. ;)
Oh, I use Voluminous now. I like it ok.
I only use this one:

It's been the best hands down. I've used it for years and can never find anything better. It gives me long, full lashes. Love it.
Ok, I know I'm a little late on this one, but I had to share my fave...
Covergirl Lash Exact (in the purple tube) has COMPLETELY taken me by storm, and is now my favorite and by far, the best mascara I've ever used! I wrote a post about it last month... The first day I wore it, I had a few girls at work ask me if I had gotten lash extensions!!!
Also, if you are still looking for a good foundation, I SWEAR by the bare escentuals powders. I never thought that I powder could cover up my reallly dark circles, but it totally does. It evens out my skin tone, lasts all day, and feels like you're wearing nothing.
Ok, those are my two plugs of the day... glad you commented on my blog so that I could find yours! :)
This comment is a little delayed, but for mascara? Better late than never :) I am ALWAYS looking for a good mascara and swear bad eyelash days come around just as often as bad hair days.
My vote also goes to Loreal Voluminous in black. I haven't been able to find anything better - yet. I've used MAC too, but I still think this one is better. I've heard great things about DiorShow too, so that may be the next thing I try.
Oh,and let me just add that the curled brush for Voluminous is key ;)
Covergirls Lashblast is amazing! Love it.
