I love pink, but seriously?

I think I have pink eye.  I thought this was reserved for children but apparently, I was mistaken.  I seem to get some of the most random conditions...nothing serious thank goodness, but random nonetheless.

Like the time I had some type of allergic reaction.  I awoke from a deep sleep with my lips on fire and couldn't figure out why.  As soon as I flipped on the light, I saw a ridiculous sight.  It was like Angelina Jolie gone wrong...terribly wrong.  I still don't know what caused that but I am sure glad it was only temporary.

Anyway, I will be staying home today in my effort not to infect others.  It is a pet peeve of mine when co-workers come to work sick and stand around my desk.  Sometimes it can't be helped but when you can....stay home!!!

I hope everyone has a fabulous day!!  Anyone ever had a random condition??

Late Night

DP has to work late tonight so I guess I will be hanging out with Grenade.  Hey...at least it is an excuse to watch The Biggest Loser AND American Idol!

I have no shame!

My Brother was an FBI Agent...

For the first time in my life, I need a new cell phone. All the previous cellular purchases were strictly because of want and were in no way a necessity. Ok, ok…I don’t really NEED one, but I want one! I guess nothing has changed after all…

This I can say – the cell phone that lives in my purse has outlasted all of the previous models I have owned. In fact, I have had my Blackjack for almost two years now which is the longest on record. It all started with my mom’s car phone – not cell phone, but car phone. Back in the day my mom drove a black Buick Park Avenue which featured a sweet-A car phone. It literally was connected to the floorboard and served no purpose other than for my step-brother’s communication with the FBI. That is right – the “FBI.” When we were little, he thought every black car was made to transport members of the FBI and since my mom’s car was black, she was obviously a secret member herself. He would always try to beat me to the front seat so he could receive our mission for that day via car phone and if he were so lucky as to snatch the coveted seat, I knew I was in for it. He would strap his little body into the seat and get on the phone immediately, all while turned around in his seat giving me that glare of his – my mom was nice enough to play along and most of the time we would take unnecessary turns around the city because of our “orders.” I can still remember how MAD I would get!

When I was sixteen I FINALLY got a cell phone of my own and until recently, I would upgrade every chance I got. The Blackjack has been a faithful companion and now that is time for my upgrade, I almost feel a little guilty. It is light years above that old car phone, which now that I think of it, happens to be the source of quite a few hilarious memories. I hate to think that I will never again see my little brother make another call to the FBI in the Park Avenue, but then again he will be 19 tomorrow! I am getting old…

As for the phone, we will see. I might just keep it a while longer.

Operation!

No. I don’t believe you that it is Monday right now. This past weekend was so fun that it blew right by with no shame and now here it is, Monday morning. My best friend came to town and we had a blast! On Saturday we even went to a MOVIE. This is so unlike me…the mere thought of being confined to a movie theatre seat is usually enough to drive me insane. I am not sure what causes this problem; I think it stems from the idea that I must sit in my seat and attempt to make zero noise. I won’t even mention the fear that comes over me when I realize that I have to walk in front of people to escape to the bathroom. I am a freak. When I was little someone told me that “creeps” would stick needles in the seats and wait for someone to come rip their butts apart unknowingly. I half-way believed this…damn those creeps. Anyway, we saw Benjamin Button and it had me crying within the first ten minutes of the movie. It was a loooooooong movie but definitely worth seeing.

So today is the start of Operation “I could damn well wear a thong bathing suit if I wanted to.” Make no mistake, I would NEVER actually wear one in public or otherwise but wouldn’t it feel great to know that you could if you wanted to?? I did not do that fabulous on Weight Watchers last week so I have given myself a second chance only this time, it will be coupled with extreme workouts at the gym. It is time. Time to get it together and prepare for the summer so I never have to be hesitant about the old bikini. The only time anyone should be scared about a bikini is if it is a “weenie bikini.” I might come back to that in the future but for now, I will leave it to you to figure out. ;)

Cheers to Summer ’09!

What the fruit?

Today is day #3 back on the Weight Watchers wagon so I am trying to be good and eat some fruit.  This seems to be a problem though because every time I go to the grocery store lately they don't have much of a selection...maybe a twig of half-rotten bananas over here, a frazzled pack of strawberries over there and that is if I am lucky.  What the fruit is going on?  I know that fruits appear in seasons but where can a girl get some decent variety?  Last time I had this problem, Drew and I went to Whole Foods; they had delicious fruit but I went broke.  I can't get my mind off eating a huge piece of watermelon but my heart knows that this won't be happening any time soon.  Who is ready for summer??  This girl!!

Until next time - XOXO

I forgot...

I came home to a toilet paper massacre again today...my camera was dead so I couldn't take a picture of how bad it was but I did add some pictures from one of the 2434539 times it has happened before.  For a better explanation, read this.

Liquid Love

I finally found a lotion that I like.  You have no idea what I have been through in my quest for the perfect lotion...if you look under my bathroom sink at any given time, there may be 10 or so partially used lotions.  There are a few things that might have happened with the rejects.  Maybe they smelled good at first, but I eventually realized that they stunk if you were to put on a whole body's worth.  Or maybe they smelled really good but didn't moisturize like I wanted it to.  OR, my favorite, they didn't smell good OR moisturize which means to me that they should be destroyed altogether.  What to do?

Aveeno=Love!  I love their line of firming lotions.  I am not quite sold on the firming aspect but it has some serious moisturizing skills.  As I am writing this I am thinking, "Why would anyone care about this?" and the answer is, they wouldn't!  But I do and I will tell you why - I despise that feeling when you wash your hands and it feels like your skin is going to peel off.  Example: I always have some kind of hand lotion at my desk at work.  One day after washing my hands I trotted back to my desk to pour on the lotion when to my horror it was missing.  One kind of thief would do this?  Oh well - I would just go back to the bathroom and use the lotion in there.  Except for that there wasn't any and why would there be??  I asked around for the remainder of the day and no one had any lotion.  I eventually had to leave the office to go pick some up.  I couldn't go on.  That is why I love lotion - the very avoidance of that particular feeling is enough to make my day.

Now that I have exposed another one of my quirks, I feel I should end this post before I expose any more of my strangeness.  Today was a weird kind of fun - no particular reason but I was just happy.  I hope you were too.  Oh and as always, feel free to leave comments about this so I don't feel so alone in my quest for the perfect product!

XOXO

Frustration Nation

I want to slap CVS Pharmacy.

Tonight was a particularly cold night in Texas so I scrambled around town after work tonight trying to get groceries and the usual.  Then I remembered I needed to pick up a prescription from CVS so I headed that way.  What I saw when I arrived was a horrible scene - it seemed everyone and their mother, sister, brother and dog happened to be at CVS.  I opted for the drive through lane so I pulled up, the third in line.  I waited in this position for about 10 minutes which would have been fine except for that I had groceries in the car and I was running low on gas (3 miles to E to be specific but that is no shocker if you know me).  A few more minutes and I was now second in line.  Ten more minutes passed without moving so I figured I would pull around and just go inside - but no!  Right when I was about to throw it in reverse, a convoy of cars pulled up behind me...there must have been three by now.  I had no choice but to wait so I turned up the radio and tried to relax.  FINALLY...I was at the window.  The man greeted me and asked my name so I told him.  He walked away as if to get get my prescription and then came back and said that it wasn't ready and I would have to pull around to the end of the line.  Are you kidding me?  I had waited close to thirty minutes for my turn at the window only to be shut down.  Not to mention, my prescription was supposed to be ready this morning at 8 am.  I politely asked if this was necessary and he proceeded to get the "manager" who also told me to beat it.  SERIOUSLY???  I thought about raising hell but I didn't...I did exactly what they asked me to do.  I pulled back around (1 mile to E) and waited once again.  I did eventually get what I came for but I left with without carrying out my diabolical plan that I spent the second set of twenty minutes thinking about.

I just might go back and slap CVS.

;)

Why can't I be a Rockette?

Last night the family got together to celebrate my mom's birthday!  We always let the birthday person decide what they would like to do and my mom chose to go see...the Rockettes.  When I was young I wanted to be two things:  Jessica Rabbit and a Rockette.  Sadly, neither of those were in my future but I am still torn up about the Rockette piece.  I went to my ballet lessons religiously as a child and actually turned out to be a pretty damn good dancer.  But there was one problem - I realized I would never be tall and I would never consent to doing the jump splits.  Yow.  As for the Jessica Rabbit thing, that faded quickly.

Anyway, we went to this fabulous restaurant called Michelangelos.  They have great food but the absolute best creme brulee on earth.  I just had to take a picture so I can think about eating it once I start up the old Weight Watchers again (tomorrow).  Then we headed to the show.  It was a good show but it was also a Christmas show so it was a little strange seeing as how Christmas has already come and gone.  My mom loved it though so it was all worth it.  Hopefully, I will have more pictures later...the camera is acting up and I don't have the patience to fight with it anymore right this second.

Have a great day!!

Caution Tape

Ok...so this post is going to be a little, well....out there.  DISCLAIMER:  If you are too cool to talk about poop, please visit the blog at another time to avoid the embarrassment of us both.  The ideas that make up this post are not typical of me but have caused paranoia in mind.  Read, ponder and then tell me if I'm crazy.

I love my husband and I love his family and friends- the reason I love them so is because we can talk, and therefore laugh, about anything!  Even poop.  The second worst p word.  Twice now during a visit to Dallas our conversation has somehow come to the point where we were talking about "poop stories" - hilariously funny yet heinously embarrassing poop stories.  As I sat and listened I became convinced that everyone in the world has some sort of poop story...EXCEPT ME!  Should this be encouraging or does this mean that my moment is yet to come?  If it is still lurking out there to get me, should I just hurry up and get it over with or should I try to prolong it as much as possible?  I can't go on.  Not with this hanging over my head.  I am now convinced that someday, in the worst possible situation, I will poop in my pants or worse.  Questions?  Comments?  Concerns?

Ok...now I can honestly vow that I will never mention "poop" again within this blog.  Maybe.

Converted!

If your hair requires a flat iron like mine does, you have to check out the Paul Mitchell version. I know, I know - the Chi rules all but this my friends, is truly a miracle product for me! Now I don't want to offend any Chi lovers (especially since I have never had anthing but one) but the Paul Mitchell is where it's at. The temperature adjusts which comes in handy if you are just doing a touch up and don't want to scorch your hair any more than you already have to. It also has a more rounded edge so if you want to avoid the stick straight look you can actually curl under the ends a little without busting out the curling iron. Combine this nifty tool with the PM "Skinny" collection and you will never look back. Do it - because Paul Mitchell says so!

Keep it up!

I have been thinking long and hard about what my goals should be for 2009 – I thought I would eventually think of something really inspiring and unique but is just isn’t happening. I was trying to avoid the usuals like lose weight, stick to a budget, etc. but these happen to fit me just right so I will roll with it.

#1. Letters – My sweet grandma lives in Washington now so I rarely get to see her. She is also reaching the age that makes it difficult to talk to her on the phone so I will do the next best thing…write letters! My first goal is to write at least one letter every other week. Some of them might be short little notes on cute cards but she always looks forward to checking the mail to see if she got anything!

#2. Get Organized (or attempt to) – AHHHHHHH! This one will get the best of me I can already tell. This is not to say that I won’t do it, but I am sure I will struggle with this one. I am a very clean person but not a very organized person. I vow to go through every closet, under every sink and get rid of anything that Drew and I don’t use. This will just make more room for all the stuff that I love at Pottery Barn! ;)

#3. Down with Credit Cards – Drew and I have decided to pay off the credit cards and then get rid of them all (except for the American Express). We don’t really have all that much debt but it would be really nice to pay everything off and then just use the American Express for small expenses that can be paid off quickly. All this for dreams of a house!!

#4. Weight Watchers – I have been a WW dropout over the holidays and should be punished. Luckily, it is a new year and it is time to get back with the program. The good news is that I don’t have far to go to get back to my goal weight (10 pounds away) but then it will be a matter of sticking with it to maintain. Drew and I work out at Lifetime and it is fabulous so that will help get us to our fitness goals. Drew is lucky in the sense that he is naturally slim and in shape – oh, to be a man. ;) For a reminder of what started it all read this!

Well, there they are. Goals for 2009. I know I had said there would be five but I am making the fifth goal to keep all of the above going throughout the year. I will post updates on some of these once in a while – hopefully, there won’t be any reason for me to be on the bad list.

XOXO
